Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Customer Order Specialist on behalf of our client, a Pittsburgh based manufacturer. The Customer Order Specialist initiates the customer order entry process by entering customer orders into our in-house order tracking system. Generates material requirements, assembly instructions and documentation lists necessary to satisfy customer orders through the creation, revision and checking of Manufacturing Information (MI) sheets.
Essential Functions:
  • Imports orders into the MRP system.
  • Verifies customer tax-exempt status and resolves any issues.
  • Creates and sends order confirmations to customers.
  • Splits orders for multiple shipments and split items for multiple MI's.
  • Processes customer order changes and cancellations.
  • Adds/deletes/changes MI templates.
  • Reviews customer specification, purchase order, client's acknowledgement and any other relevant order information. Verifies that the information contained in the customer's purchase order and specifications does not conflict with information on the client's acknowledgement and configured MI's. Works with the Sales Team to resolve conflicts.
  • Reviews, updates, corrects and approves configured MI sheets. Alerts Engineering Services whenever an order requires a new or revised standard drawing.
  • Reviews, updates, corrects and approves documentation lists. Alerts the Technical Writer if instruction book revisions or additions are required.
  • Enters corrections, additions and revisions to Order Acknowledgements. Alerts the Sales Team whenever a change to the purchase order may be required.
  • Assists Sales in determining what items to quote for spare part orders.
  • Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards.
  • Follows all company policies and adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Self-directed and able to keep focus while working independently in an office setting.
  • Ability to effectively manage priorities and adhere to schedules.
  • Detail oriented and precise in following standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work closely with Sales, Scheduling, Application Engineering, and Assembly teams to accurately process customer orders and resolve any issues.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required
  • A minimum of three (3) years working in order processing or related field
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred
