Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Engineer / Project Manager on behalf of our client, a science and engineering consulting firm with offices in the Pittsburgh area. Our client is looking for a self-driven and experienced Senior Engineer/Project Manager who has a strong business acumen and embodies an ownership mentality. As a Senior Engineer/Project Manager, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers, scientists, project managers, CAD designers, GIS analysts, and other staff to service our client's needs. This role will establish new client relationships, define new and existing client needs, develop winning strategies, prepare proposals, and manage the development, design, and permitting of a wide range of projects related to natural gas development, solid waste management, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, water resources, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control planning. The successful applicant must be a highly motivated, resourceful, well-organized cooperative producer and manager that is able to meet project goals, schedules, and budgets
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the development, design and permitting of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Prepare and review engineering designs and permit applications to acquire approvals from regulatory bodies.
- Maintain complex schedules, develop project timelines, coordinate with subcontractors, and manage people and materials to complete jobs on schedule and within budget guidelines.
- Monitor project work progress, adhering to the scope of work and communicating with key stakeholders including the project manager, client, and subcontractors.
- Assess and mitigate project risks in advance of detailed engineering efforts.
- Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature and develop effective solutions.
- Perform and/or check technical calculations and prepare project specifications.
- Prepare detailed models and technical documents to present project design/feasibility findings to stakeholders.
- Evaluate the economic, engineering, or pragmatic feasibility of projects based on site and/or building constraints (i.e., constructability assessment).
- Assist our client's Business Development and Marketing team, including the preparation of detailed technical proposals.
- Prepare reports, client communications, contract documents, etc. and consult with other internal partners as needed.
- Prepare client invoices, track project budgets and projections.
- Act as the direct point of contact in communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Attend client & agency meetings and industry events.
Job Requirements
Base Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Pennsylvania Professional Engineer registration required. Ability to acquire licensure in other states as needed.
- 8+ years of experience in the natural gas and energy development industry including, but not limited to design, permitting, operations support, and construction oversight projects including hands-on project management.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects.
- Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills.
- Ambitious and eager to grow.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated mentality.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with key stakeholders, including local, county and state officials, environmental regulators, to exchange information, clearly explain the project goals, obtain permit approvals, and to coordinate compliance efforts.
- Knowledge of State environmental regulations, including but not limited to PA, OH and WV.
- Must be able to work independently and collaborate with peers when appropriate.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow by reviewing project billings, preparing client invoices, and assisting with payment collection.
- Understanding of financial models and budget management.
- Reasonably proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Office Suite, and other industry-specific software.
